Hello all of you MCO Singers, Supporters and Friends!

It has now been a full week since our last performance and I am missing you all terribly.  I am excited to see you all (from all shows) again soon.  We have a lot of singing opportunities coming up and we need you!

Our next activity is to find this month’s singers for the 1th Friday at Café Trieste in San Jose.  This is a fun chance to try out some new performance pieces with a friendly and supportive cast.  Roger, owner and opera fan, has asked that we make this a regular monthly event. We are taking over for OSJ. So if this month is not good for you, add it to your calendars for the future. This is a great opportunity to stay involved with MCO and get the word out. This month’s pianist is Paul Harris. He is a coach with SF Opera and San Diego Opera, so I am excited to have him.

Auditions are next for mid-April, on the 19th, 20th and 21st in the theater.  If you are interested in chorus, no need to audition unless you would like to be considered for a role.  Our season is going to include a Gala on August 6th, 7th or 8th; Michael’s Truce of Carols and Amahl and the Night Visitors on December 18-19; and Don Giovanni  February 18, 20, 25,and 27.  Please email for an appointment at auditions@missioncityopera.org. We hope you will add these dates to your calendars and plan to join us.

We have two more opportunities for May the Spring Fling at Don Callejon School on the 15th; and Sunday in the Park on Sunday May 23rd   to support the Arts Walk.  The City of Santa Clara has invited us to participate in this year’s Concerts in the Park Series on July 7th.  For those who joined us last year, you know how much fun was had by all, even the crew!

Please become a fan of MCO on Face Book and pass the word around please. If you go to http://lovealocalbusiness.intuit.com/fan and vote for Mission City Opera we could win up to $25k from Intuit.  The top group right now has 420 votes.  I bet we could top that by the 30th with not too much effort.  Use this custom link http://bit.ly/duY28D when you post a request to your Facebook or Twitter status or email your contacts. Mark it in your calendar to vote every month.

For August we are planning a week in the theatre with a gala at the end of the week.  We are hoping to receive permission from the school board for the “bubbly” refreshment. And of course 1st Fridays will continue too.  October will bring chorus rehearsals for Truce and Amahl.

We would love to hear from you. Let us know if you would like to participate in any or all of these events. We are hoping to grow more and more performance ops for you. We appreciate all that you do and hope you can join us for the excitement. There is room for everyone!

Love,

Sharon Kaye

Hello all you Bohemians!

Hello all of you Bohemians!

It has now been a full week since our last performance and I am missing you all terribly.  Thank you all for a wonderful production in every sense.  It was a joy to hear your instruments excite Puccini’s music; to watch you grow in your roles and confidence. It was a pleasure to work with all of you:  the cast, crew, orchestra and staff.  This was the most enjoyable show for me as the producer in our 13 years because of all of you.  I hope you will consider singing, playing and working with MCO again. I hope you have us in a fond place in your life experience.

Our next activity is to find this month’s singers for the 4th Friday at Café Trieste in San Jose.  This is a fun chance to try out some new performance pieces with a friendly and supportive cast.  Roger, owner and opera fan, has asked that we make this a regular event. So if this month is not good for you, add it to your calendars for the future (May, July, Sept, Nov, Jan, March). This is a great opportunity to stay involved with MCO and get the word out.

Auditions are next for mid-April, on the 19th, 20th and 21st in the theater.  If you are interested in chorus, no need to audition unless you would like to be considered for a role.  Our season is going to include a Gala on August 7th or 8th; Michael’s Truce of Carols and Amahl and the Night Visitors on December 18-19; and Don Giovanni during February.  Please email for an appointment at auditions@missioncityopera.org. We hope you will add these dates to your calendars and plan to join us.

I just forgot, the City of Santa Clara has also invited us to share an Evening in the Park with the Santa Clara Chorale again in June this year.  For those who joined us last year, you know how much fun was had by all, even the crew!

Please become a fan of MCO on Face Book, www.lovealocalbusiness.com and pass the word around please.  You all have every reason to be proud of your work, dedication and talent.  I look forward to staying in touch and working with you again.

Love,

Sharon Kaye

Yeah...rehearsals are about to begin!
By What's happening at Mission City Opera... | October 19, 2009 at 03:04 PM EDT | No Comments

Hello all MCO Fans,

There have been a few changes to the rehearsal schedule: Oct 20 - cancelled; Dec 1&2 have been corrected to 7-10pm. We hope that this will allow more folks to join us for the ensemble.  Please review the changes. Most importantly, tomorrow's rehearsal has been cancelled due to space scheduling with the City.

First Music Rehearsal for the ensemble will be this coming Saturday,

October 24 from 10am to 1pm.

Montague Park

3595 MacGregor Lane, Santa Clara, CA 95054

I will put a MapQuest link on the rehearsal page for your convenience. At this rehearsal you will receive a hard copy of the schedule with the locations marked.  This year some of our rehearsals will be in a new location, so please make sure to note them in your calendars.

We will provide you with the music that you need.  For copyright reasons, this will be assigned to you and must be returned at the end of the run.  If you still have your Amahl music from last year, please bring it with you! We will be taking measurements during this rehearsal as well.

The music for Truce is absolutely wonderful.  It is so exciting to have a world premiere...so we're off and running.

Any questions it is best to reach me by email:  skaye@missioncityopera.org

Well this is fun moving into the next century.  I hope that my board members will enjoy this fun outlett, not just FaceBook!  Who will be talking most often, just me.

If you have comments or ideas on MCO, we are excited to hear it!  Speaking of excitement, a World Premier at our beautiful theater.  We are bouncing off the walls Tigger style.

Busy fundraising and planning the future moving into an outreach program and more support from the corporate community.  The auditions were amazing this year with so many talented singers here in the Bay Area.  We are still looking for a few soloists and we are interested in a ton because of the fabulous season.  Be sure to check out the site:  http://www.missioncityopera.org

And just who in the world is Me?  Sharon.
